Example 7

When you want to ask how many people in some places or others in Japanese language

 

Autumn-san: "あなたのかぞくになんにんがありますか? / 貴方の家族に何人がありますか?" 

Autumn-san: "Anata no kazoku ni nan nin ga arimasu ka?"

Autumn-san: "How many people are there in your family?"

 

 

Winter-san: "よにんです。 / 四人です。" 

Winter-san: "Yo nin desu."

Winter-san: "4 people."

 

 

 

Example 8

When you want to ask for the number of cylindrical things in Japanese language...

 

Summer-san: "えんぴつは(wa)なんぼんですか? / 鉛筆は(wa)何本ですか?" 

Summer-san: "Enpitsu wa nan bon desu ka?"

Summer-san: "How many pencil are there?"

 

 

Winter-san: "じゅうろっぽんえんぴつです / 十六本鉛筆です。" 

Winter-san: "jyuu roppon enpitsu desu."

Winter-san: "16 pencils."

 

 

 

Example 9 

When you want to ask about the number of spoonfuls in Japanese language...

 

Autumn-san: "さとうは(wa)なんばいいれましょうか? / 砂糖は(wa)何ばい入れましょうか?" 

Autumn-san: "Satou wa nanbai iremashou ka?"

Autumn-san: "How many spoonful of sugar shall i put in?"

 

 

Summer-san: "にはいください。 / 二はいください。" 

Summer-san: "Nihai kudasai."

Summer-san: "2 spoonfuls please."

 

 

 

Example 10 

When you want to ask about the number of flat things in Japanese language...

 

Winter-san: "かみは(wa)なんまいですか? / 紙は(wa)何枚ですか?" 

Winter-san: "Kami wa nanmai desu ka?"

Winter-san: "How many pieces of paper?"

 

 

Summer-san: "はちまいください。 / 八枚ください。"

Summer-san: "Hachimai kudasai."

Summer-san: "8(eight) pieces please."

 

 

 

Example 11

When you want to ask about the number of books/magazines in Japanese language...

 

Autumn-san: "なんさつざっしがかいったか? / 何冊雑誌が買ったか?"

Autumn-san: "Nan satsu zasshi ga kaata ka?"

Autumn-san: "How many books did you bought?"

 

 

Winter-san: "ろくさつです。 / 六冊です。"

Winter-san: "Roku satsu desu."

Winter-san: "6"

 

 

 

Example 12

When you want to ask about the number of times/floors of a building in Japanese language...

 

Autumn-san: "あのえいがは(wa)なんかいおみましたか? / あの映画は(wa)何階お見ましたか?" 

Autumn-san: "Ano eiga wa nan kai o mimashita ka?"

Autumn-san: "How many times have you watched that movie?" 

 

 

Summer-san: "さんかいです。 / 三階です。"

Summer-san: "San kai desu."

Summer-san: "3 times"
